R01 is the foundation CII exam covering financial services regulation, the regulatory framework, and the ethical standards expected of financial advisers. It is often taken early in the Diploma as it can be a prerequisite for certain supervisory roles and underpins other qualifications.
Difficulty Level
ModerateR01 is considered moderately difficult. It is knowledge-heavy with lots of regulation to memorise, but there are no calculations. Most candidates find it manageable with consistent revision.
R01 is a good second module to study (after R05). It is a prerequisite for some roles and forms the basis for other CII qualifications.
